A CAFOD group has been active in our parish since 1990.
Meetings are friendly and informal and begin and end with prayer; these meetings are held in the presbytery from 7:30 to 9:00pm on the last Tuesday of each month (excluding August and December).
As CAFOD's mission is to build one community in the world and overcome the injustices that keep people in poverty, we try to raise funds in our parish and deepen awareness of the poverty and injustice suffered by our brothers and sisters overseas.
Our meetings involve counting donations made via CAFOD boxes in the home; currently these donations are used to support various projects in Africa - 'Focus Africa'. At our meetings we also plan how best to respond to CAFOD's campaigns and encourage support for them.
We are responsible for the two Fast day collections and emergency disaster appeals.
We support CAFOD at parish, diocesan and national levels.
