Lay readers during Mass

Readers are volunteers from the congregation who offer to read the first and second readings during Mass. This involves reading one of the two texts from either the Old or New Testament.

Readers are expected to familiarise themselves with their particular reading prior to Mass.

A reading rota is organised on a three monthly basis. If a reader cannot attend their assigned Mass they are expected to arrange an alternative reader from the group to take their place.

New readers are always welcome. If you would like to become a reader please contact the Parish Priest.
